My name is Catia, and I am an editor with varied interests, specialties, and experiences. I was inspired to become an editor because of my love of the various subgenres of speculative fiction. Paranormal and Sci-Fi romance are my favorite genres because they contain all of my favorite literary elements: fantasy, mystery, alternate worlds or realities, and romance.
It occurred to me that not all authors are able to afford editorial services, but almost all authors—no matter how experienced and capable—can benefit from the support of a skilled editor. My task as an editor is to ensure that a manuscript consistently and clearly communicates the vision of its author. As such, the author and manuscript remain the focus at all stages of the editorial process.
I received a Master of Arts degree in Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latino Studies. My thesis examined the historical events that led to notions of gender identity in Mexico in the 2000s. I have taught college-level Spanish for nearly a decade, but I’ve also had the opportunity to teach history courses. I love stories, and I'm an avid reader. I regularly complete professional development coursework—primarily in the fields of editing, literature, history, and cultural studies. I have taken several courses in editing that focused on the topics of grammar, copyediting, and developmental editing.
My editorial interests are varied. Although I primarily focus my efforts on editing speculative romantic fiction, I am also able to tackle fiction and nonfiction projects that have been translated from Spanish or that deal with Latin American history, cultures, identities, gender studies, and so much more.
Please don't hesitate to contact me by email or using the form on the Contact the Editor page. I look forward to working with you.
